Ear Cinema is a collaborative multi-platform installation/performance piece incorporating animation
and film footage, sonic art techniques, namely ambisonics, and live performance. The piece involves
four large canvas screens placed to make a 8 metre cube. Four projectors simultaneously run a combination of animation and film work and 2 performers act out various characters in front of the screens in real-time accentuating the narrative. Eight speakers are placed in a cube form to create a 3D sound environment known as ambisonics where a dynamic control of sound and music within the cube is achievable. Audiences are invited to stand between the four screens to experience the piece and using our current screen dimensions, we can incorporate 40 audience members per viewing.
Although the piece incorporates extensive cutting edge technology, the real focus lies in the ability to deliver a story and we define the piece as being 'Immersive Digital Storytelling'
