Current Project : Late Noon Sun

The award winning, film-maker and animator Lizzie Oxby has been invited to direct and devise a film based on the fragmented story ‘Late Noon Sun’ written by Alice Kemp. The story revisits the previous tale of ‘Little Mary’, performed at previous shows at the ICA Gallery, to try and unravel the haunting, dark mystery. Incorporated are beautifully integrated live stage performances by Dagmara Bilon, Agnieszka Kapuscinska and Alice Tatge supported by an original soundscore by Wajid Yaseen, sound design by Gadi Sassoon and unique 3D immersive sound techniques by Dave Hunt. A young woman was found murdered. What lead to Little Mary’s death ?……
‘Washing sails like old flags of grey nations….a woman in a headscarf thinks about nothing in particular as she moves cloth over window sill…..a potted plant falls and smashes. She’s got a sour affectation - everyone around here’s tasted it. She waits, recalling prime numbered pages of the Fact Book of Fiction … a flesh net glove … that which must be destroyed…..’

Previous Performances :
Ear Cinema has presented two previous projects - titled ‘Little Mary’ and ‘The Lodger’.
Little Mary : ICA Gallery, London - a stand-alone installation and performances running for 4 days, Nov 2007

The story is based around the character of a little girl named Mary who we never actually get to see throughout the piece. The story begins with an announcement by a doctor about Mary’s health and at this point we see bandages being unwrapped. News reporters swarm through the corridor of a hospital where a grief-stricken mother and a nun are inconsolable. Police officers make a call to start a man-hunt. We backtrack to statements from Mary who is commenting on her own situation. A man in a bad suit starts waving a book as though it was on fire. The narrator (acts as audience members) asks questions to the nurse and hospital staff.
The Lodger : Battersea Arts Centre, London - as part of the Burst Festival, May 2007 : a collaboration with the performance group ‘1927′

The lodger arrived without warning at an unsociable hour. Cheap love on his breath A tatty piece of string that bore a rusty key around his neck And a pencil moustache that was pencilled on. He was a French man who didn’t appear to speak any English….or any French.
